Neighbours dog barking - what can I do?

It seems our neighbours have got themselves a dog. And it's in the yard barking all evening long & driving us crazy. We live in a very urban area and barking dogs are not common around here - they tend to be well behaved.

The yard backs onto lots of flats etc so there are lots of people that will be getting wound up by it. I think perhaps the dog is lonely & the owners are out (they can't be in ignoring it can they?). It is quite difficult to tell exactly which flat the dog belongs to (I can hear it but not see it), but I am working on that.

Any advice as to what we can do about this?

poor dog Sad. Could you get to the dog and see if it has a tag? It may have a phone number. Or, if it were me, i would pop round there and politely mention it. AS you are neighbours presumably you have had contact with them previously.

we have the same problem. My neighbour follows it around as it barks, snarls, growls and hurls itself at the fence trying to call it back to her saying 'Good Boy, Good boy, K*'

The problem is you are hearing an offensive mutt ruining your precious time back from work. The owner is listening to an adorable cuddly but slightly naughty dog. To them its like a newborn baby.

I really cannot understand why people think it is socially acceptable to put their annoying barking dog in the garden and not see anything wrong with it.

There's a dog like this in one of the yards behind us Sad My dog barks occasionally but no way would I allow it for any longer than minutes. This goes on for hours. No one ever seems to do anything when this sort of thing is reported though?
