Dog proof paddling pool for the kids!

Dog likes water (wierd staffy!) she does running belly flops into the bath, sneaks in the shower if you don't shut the door quick enough. Last year as a pup she discovered the joys of a paddling pool, especially when the kids are in it. Since its going to be horrible for the dog being shut in whenever the kids are in the pool, I have surrendered to the inevitability of the dog being in the pool with the kids. I have no problems with the hygiene aspect since the colour my kids come in after a day playing out frankly Beggars belief, but I don't want to have to replace the pool every week after her claws have gone through the bottom or through the inflatable bits. Is there such a thing as a dog proof pool? The pool will be on the patio so will have a foam base to stand on for safety, will a hard sided one with a couple of additional vinyl layers on the bottom work?

I have a paddling-pool-loving dog too.

There's no hope, just buy cheap and replace Wink

At least that's what I've done - we are on our 3rd pool. I try to keep dog and pool separate but she always manages to sneak in!

I did find my 9 month old kitten balancing on the inflatable edge this morning. I thought 'right, you'll have to learn the hard way - fall in and then you'll know not to do it again' So I stood back and waited for the inevitable...he fell in, jumped out, shook himself down and then jumped straight back up and started batting at the water with his paws! [exasperated]

So, dog and cat proof paddling pool ideas welcome

Oooh that looks good minimuu, I'll have to show this to MIL, her cocker loooooves water and is constantly trying to get in the koi pond :o

OP are you not on a hosepipe ban then? I'm jealous, we were going to get a paddling pool for DD but there's no point now, the ban starts in our area next week :(

I've just got a (non dog proof) pool for DTs, planning on using the watering can to fill it up!

I'm going to get one of those hard shell shaped ones I think, if I can find a second hand one, and so have separate ones for DD and dog. I'm sure he can be trained to stay in his own. Clicker time!
