Problem following cruciate surgery

My lovely lab had a partial cruciate ligament tear at only four months old. We were unaware of any kind of incident that could have caused it. Vet sutured it and he has gradually been getting stronger and stronger over last three months. Has had regular hydrotherapy. Looked fantastic until last weekend, I thought he had made a super recovery. Then suddenly he's limping again and when I feel the outside of his leg, I can feel a little 'bump'. He doesn't seem bothered at all, is not any apparent pain, very cheerful and charging about but just moving oddly.

He is being kept as quiet as possible today but will be in the vets tomorrow. Any ideas what this could be?

Vet says he thinks it's soft tissue injury and has prescribed Previcox. Puppy was previously on Metacam but vet thinks new anti-inflammatory will work better. Am a little bit nervous of using this drug, haven't I read somewhere that it can cause renal failure?
