Send a towel to the breeder who can they put it in with mum/pups. It will then smell of home when you bring the puppy home.
Enjoy.

Thanks, will do that, and maybe a warm hot water bottle to keep him warm!

We've had our black lab pup for nearly three months now, and although at times hard work, he's actually settled in really well.

We listened to the breeder, who is very much of the mind that the pup fits into your life - obviously with compromise Grin. We ignored the crying on the first night - although he had his bedding from his 'old' home, let him out at 2 ish when he cried, but like a baby, minimum fuss. We left a radio on.

His crate is his space, and even when it's open, he'll often go and relax in there.

It's actually been a lot easier than I thought - good luck!

Thanks, after losing 2 dogs in a short space of time, am so looking forward to having the puppy, the crate is ready and am prepared for first night howling! We have given him the utility space of the kitchen, which already has a stairgate, for his crate etc. we already walk to school, so he should get plenty of excercise!

This thread is quite long, but I found it very useful new puppy thread. Our pup is now 15 weeks old, sleeping well at night (at last Smile, and finally enjoying walks after being stuck at home waiting for the injection safe-period. That was the worst bit really, not being able to go out and about!
