How early to get the snip?

I have 2 shih tzus. One girl and her puppy who is coming up for 5 months. I have just caught the puppy trying to hump his mum! Is he old enough to get the snip as obviously dont want any incest going on in my house :)

I think most vets would be happy to castrate a small breed dog of this age, make the appointment!

My rule of thumb is when they've been cocking their leg to wee for a least a month

oh well he's not cocking his leg. But phoned vets anyway and they said they dont do it before 6 months. And hes only about 4 months not 5 so gonna have to be extra vigilant with him.
