Help with puppy interview prep!

Me and my partner have a telephone interview at 5pm tomorrow to discuss a possible puppy!
He is a long-haired miniature Dachshund and if all goes well we will be visiting him on Sunday.
We of course expect to be asked about our work patterns, general lifestyles and previous dog experience but, in an effort to be as prepared as possible, are trying to think of ALL the questions we could be asked.
So - if you were interviewing us what would your toughest questions be?
Thanks in advance!

What are you going to do with him when you go on holiday? Why do you want a Dachshund? Will he be allowed upstairs/ on the bed?

Seriously curious: why would they want to know if he'd be allowed upstairs/on the bed?

FiveHoursSleep · 22/03/2012 21:07

Dachshunds have all sorts of back problems, and some breeders claim they shouldn't be allowed to jump up on and climb things to prevent this.

clam · 22/03/2012 21:15

What, not even stairs?

FiveHoursSleep · 22/03/2012 22:01

People carry them up and down stairs to prevent back problems. Not everyone does, but there are a fair few who do!

Why would you want to take on a dog that has so many inherent health problems that it cannot do a natural activity such as jumping?

What will happen if you split up?

Harsh, but we were asked.

Thanks for your help! We are off to meet the puppy on Sunday :)

Some of the questions we were asked were:

Why do we want a Dachshund?
What is the area like where you live - are there many green areas etc?
What previous experience do you have with dogs, which breeds were they and how long did you have them for?
Do you have experience with different types of training - clicker training etc?
Have you found a suitable puppy class?
Do you have enough money to afford the vet bills?
What jobs do you do and how much time will the puppy be alone?
etc

Thanks again!
