Hot frog, jumping dog!

Pup is 9 weeks old - lab cross so typical lab puppy size for her age I'd say.

We set up a puppy run for her in the utility room with our old baby dan gates. They are 75cm high. Each end is attached with cable ties to her crate so that she has a 'safe place' I can leave her in the day and I leave her with the crate open into the run at night as she can't go all night without the toilet (and I made the decision at the start not to get up).

Came down the night before last and found her in the kitchen! She can jump over the gates!! Put her in the pen again last night as I was settling her and she was out in 15 seconds. I think she uses the open crate door a bit like a ladder to help her hop out. Fairly impressive though. I was thinking I'd like to do a bit of agility with her when she is older, but I didn't think she'd start at 9 weeks!

Is this kind of jumping normal or should I post in gifted and talented! ;-)

Either way is damn annoying and will take down the now pointless gates tonight and she will have to have the run of the utility room!

Alber-querke!

When ours were pups they could climb a stair gate from about 10 weeks. If they're determined enough, they'll get over!

They both laugh in the face of a stairgate now.

Misery - Oh no! The stair gates (and crate) are the only thing keeping me sane!! ;-)

Ours (16mo Terrier X) can open the crate door (and the kitchen door) so all hope of her sleeping downstairs went out the window after 2 nights!

Cazinge, that is pretty amazing! Quite an escape artist Grin
