Agility mums - first show

I have entered NADS this weekend at the Newbury Show ground only in Nursery so no weaves, but I'm really quite nervous. Will I hear and go when they call the dogs for measuring? Will I miss the time to walk my course?

Good luck! I bet you have a great time. Do come back and tell us all about it.

I'll be there too!

You will have such fun Lizcat - the first show is always a bit stressful but there is really no need to worry - everybody has had a first show!

Remember that what ever happens it will have happened before.

The UKA shows are fantastic very relaxed. Have you got your running order? With UKA it is sometimes hard to know when to walk the course etc but when you know what ring you are in just go and keep an eye on what is running. They do give announcements but it is a good idea to keep popping back to the ring to check how things are going. I roughly use about 1 minute per dog so you can sort of work out when the classes will finish and end etc.

You can go and ask at the secretary's tent when measuring is and they will remind you with an announcement.

When you have walked the course remember to tick yourself off on the list in the ring and then they will call you if you miss the timing of your ring.

Have fun and enjoy it - but be careful that could be your weekends booked up until September!

I can still remember my first show - I was running a lab who picked up the number by the weaves did a zoomie around the ring and then did the weaves with the number in his mouth Grin

Good luck and have a fab day - I will keep my eye on nursery to see the agility owner with the Mumsnet scarf Grin

As Minimuu says, UKA shows can get through classes and heights within them very quickly, so make sure you listen out and visit the ring regularly. Good luck, you'll love it!

Thank you for tips particularly that there is a list I need to tick myself off on. I am only competeting on Sunday, I will wear my mumsnet scarf.

The list that you tick only applies at uka, so don't try it at a kc show! The list there is different :)
