ooh. I forgot all about that.

Yes, it's been out of the box, finally.

It's not magical but it does get all that dog snot off the window a lot quicker than a cloth and a bucket does. It's still smeary but it's still smeary after a cloth and bucket too. I guess if I cleaned them more often, it'd work better Grin

It's good for freshening up dog beds without having to wash them. The dining room (where most of the sleep) smells a lot less doggy now.

It worked miracles on my cream, leather sofa.

It's the only thing, thus far, that has managed to leave my black tiled floor smear free.

I think the laminate looks a lot cleaner, but DH thinks it looks the same as when I do it with a mop.

It's good for the inside of the soap drawer in the washer.

Overall it's not as good as I was hoping it to be, but its handy and switching it and having a coffee while it heats up is easier than locating and filling buckets and rinsing out mops. Me likes it, but me is not in love with it.

Ooh, what make have you got doin? I really fancy a steam cleaner

D0oinMeCleanin · 15/03/2012 16:11

Vax S6

The pipes are a bit bendy if you put too much pressure on them while you're mopping the floors but you are able to put on as much pressure as you'd to to mop off dried in, sticky coffee granules that have been there for months and the mop won't touch.

Thanks!

Have you tried it on any carpets or soft furnishings? What was the result?

I am getting desperate. All three of our dogs have come down with a bug and we have had copious D & V all over the house in a variety of locations. I may actually be forced to break my Lent promise and have a large gin tonight.

Just back from the second vet visit this week. The washing machine is working flat out. Am getting through disinfectant like it is going out of fashion.

Sigh.

A multi purpose steam cleaner sounds very attractive at the moment, especially for those bright yellow, bile vomits. Sorry TMI Blush

Carpet!?! Are you mad? I have three dogs, squitty cat and two children under 9. I have no carpet or soft furnishings.

I was able to totally re-do our whole house before we moved in here and designed a totally wipe clean house Grin

Oh wait. I did use it on the rug. The rug looks the same in my eyes, but smells better and it did seem to bring out a lot of dirt and hair onto the cloth over the steam head, so maybe if I did it a few more time it'd look better?

The only carpet I have is in my room and all animals are banned from there except to sleep on a night. Plus we have this from the last house that I use in the bedroom occassionally

The Vax Rapide is v good for spills etc on carpets and soft furnishings but puts a lot of water into things, much more than it sucks back out, so it's no good for doing all your sofas at once. It used to take around 24 hours for one sofa to dry totally. The same for carpets.
