Smallest dog has been on/off lame for a month now. He hates the vet so I tried resting him at home and gradually working back up to off lead exercise twice before going to the vet.

I took him on Wednesday as he was hopping after rest again and he was so tense and stressed that the vet couldn't examine him properly. However she did think that he wasn't happy having his tarsus (rear 'heel') extended. Because of the trouble examining him he has to have x rays under a general on Monday.

I'm so worried that he's got bone cancer or something dreadful. I've never known lameness not clear up with a full month's work to get it to go away. He's only 4.

Isn't it more likely an injury? I know it's terribly worrying, but try not to think the worst x

I know I'm being completely irrational! I just can't wait for Monday, when he'll get the all clear and we can enter the hell that is enjoy cage rest to finally heal the soft tissue injury :o

Could be cruciate ligament too, no? That can go in young dogs. Hope all goes well.
