Cast iron bladder

My 18 month old cocker often only has one wee a day. He used to go out after breakfast but hardly ever wants to now. He saves it until walkies time at about 5 and then has an enormous one! Doesn't want to go out before bed either. This doesn't seem right to me. He doesn't drink very much in the house and he is fed on a mixture of canned food and Fish 4 Dogs. He seems healthy and active so should I be worried?

I don't know the answer to this but just thought I'd give it a bump for you. One of mine sometimes won't go before bed and then does an enormous one the next morning. I've taught him a 'go toilet' command now so that if he won't go, I can give the command and hey presto, he does it. That way I don't have to worry about whether he'll have an accident overnight.

If this is a change in toileting behaviour though I'd suggest a trip to the vet to check there isn't an underlying problem.

That's interesting because my girl cavie, 17 mths, also won't pee ! She's a rescue & I was told to take her out every hr & then praise like made when she wee'd....by the time she did do one, DH & I were estatic....it took hours !

Today she had a wee first thing (7amish) one big one about 4pm & now I'm waiting for her to do another....yesterday's wee was about midnight, so 3 pees in 24 hrs.....?!

hmm, seems a bit strange to me. My dog needs to pee much more than that. She is outdoors quite a bit, so don't keep track, but i would guess at least four times a day, if not more.

Working Cocker here 6.5 months old with a steel trap for a bladder. Can hold for hours, drinks loads ( although fed only on kibble and left overs) and is doing well on it. I guess they vary a bit like us.

Interesting that this small sample is Spaniel heavy. Wonder if it is peculiar to them?

Gawd, my spaniel pees every other step. Seriously, he wees constantly. He can hold it for hours (11 over night, for example) but during the day, he likes to sprinkle as he's walking, when he's happy, when he just finds that the ground is a little dry etc etc He never has accidents in the house, but outside he's like an open faucet.
