We just had to put our lovely dog to sleep

Am feeling so emotional.
Have to pick up DD1 from school soon and tell her. She will be devastated.
He was a lovely dog, he loved us. A big lovely german shepherd.
He will be sorely missed.

I'm so sorry. Its an awful feeling, and having to tell a dd who loves him must be even worse - I haven't experienced that part yet.

He sounds as though he was a much loved boy, with a happy life, and will leave a big hole. Love and hugs to you in your loss, xx

Thank you both for replying. Not even sure why I posted. Just needed to vent.
He was 8, DD has known him her whole life. She patted him goodbye this morning and said "you're a good boy".

Sorry from me too, dogs give us so much and ask for so little back.

I've told her and we're currently eating ice cream watching barbie. She is sobbing into her stuffed dog.

So sorry for your loss. It was going to say it's like losing a family member, but it is losing a family member. Very sad.. :(

We had a restless night. DH couldn't sleep. DD1 came in about 1.30 sobbing.
Feel brighter today though, he was in alot of pain and needed to go. Sob.

You did a very brave and loving thing letting him go. I hope that in time that can bring you comfort x
