Split claw

Giant Dog has split the claw on one of his front paws by hurtling after balls as if his life depends on it. What do I need to do? Leave it? Do something myself? Vets? Groomers?

Has it split down to the quick? Or is it bleeding? If not if I were you I'd trim it (either yourself with some clippers - you should be able to get them from any petstore) or ask a vet or groomer to do it if you're not happy doing it yourself. It will take seconds so shouldn't cost much.

If it has split to the quick or is bleeding I'd probably at least call the vet as I'd be worried about infection. Hope your dog is ok!

Sorry - I meant to say I'd trim it to stop it splitting any further!
