Puppy being sick after sleeping - vets?

We have a 13 week SBT, beautiful dog. He is bright, alert and active during the day. Periods of activity are interspersed with sleep. Good appetite. Cool wet nose. Eyes clear and bright. Growing nicely, with a lean but well-covered body.

However, in the last week or two he has had 4 or 5 episodes of vomiting, always after a sleep.

He is a typical puppy, trying to chew anything he can. We have young children, and despite our efforts, he has sometimes got hold of their toys and chewed them, swallowing bits of them (for instance, he managed to chew and swallow a rubber sucker from a toy).

Should we be taking him to the vet? What could cause a puppy to wake from a sleep to vomit when they seem otherwise completely well?

I'd take him to the vet for a once over because he is such a baby still - and it's happened more than once.

I don't hesitate for puppies, just in case. They can go downhill so quickly.

Is it when he hasn't eaten for a while? One of ours is sometimes sick when he has an empty tummy, e.g. first thing in the morning, the solution was to feed little and often (though you're probably doing that anyway for a young pup). In this case it's usually just yellow 'bile' that they bring up.

I agree about getting him checked out by the vet if at all in doubt.

Yes Ephiny, it does seem to be in between meals, rather than just after. So, for instance, yesterday he had eaten at 5pm (his 3rd meal) and was sick at around 9.15, shortly before we were due to give him his last meal of the day.

There is never very much to see.
