Breast lumps in bitch?

I have a Great Dane bitch who is just over a year old.

I've noticed that she has 2 lumps in her 'breast' area, right behind the 'nipples' - they are both sort of egg size and shape but one is smooth and flat feeling, and a normal colour while the other is a weird bluish colour and is quite 'bumpy' under the skin.

Neither of them seem to be causing her and kind of discomfort but I am worried - any idea what they could be? Do you think it is likely to be serious? Help!

I think it's always worth getting lumps checked out, just to be on the safe side. It's quick and easy for a vet to aspirate them to see if they are suspicious.

Yeah, that's what I was planning to do just to be sure.

I just like to have a rough idea of what to expect when I go so I don't get a massive shock :)

I know what you mean extremepie. Dogs can get all sorts of lumps, you just don't know until you see the vet. Hopefully it's nothing. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Mine had lumpy boobs recently, she was having a phantom pregnancy, vet gave her some meds and they have gone. Def go to the vet and get them checked.

Ok, just been to the vet and he said that he thinks it is an infection in the glands (phew!) so she's now on antibiotics and will have another check up next week to review the situation :D

Phew! That's good news. I hope it clears up quickly now she is on antibiotics.

Thanks :) That's what I was thinking!
