I just realized that it was about a year ago I started lurking on this board, wondering about getting a dog. This was a huge step for me because I used to be absolutely terrified of dogs. Eventually I stopped lurking and asked for advice on getting a rescue dog, and since then I've found the help and advice on this board invaluable.

The first dog was a husky cross. We didn't have him very long before we realized that you can't just have one husky, and he needed a canine companion. When the rescue saw us with him, they thought that since he was a husky, and so well-behaved, we must be very dog-savvy. (not at all - the husky is easy). Hence we got Dog2, who was a complete handful. There are still some things we are working on but he is now a lovely dog who is mostly well-behaved.

At the risk of getting all mushy, thanks to all of you for the advice, discussion and sharing your own dog's stories :) I have two very happy dogs and wouldn't have it any other way (well, except that I think there should be another husky before too long...).
