I was wondering how you have your dog's coat groomed and kept if you have him/her as a pet (no showing).

My Digby has always had a 'teddy cut' until his new groomer brought him back with all his fur clipped except his tail, and still with his very cute face.

Once I got over the shock (!), I realise how practical it is and he seems to love it. He has got coat/s to wear on his walks in this very recent cold spell.

Cheers

Just had my Lhasa groomed this week and he is short apart from legs, tail and ears. He looks lovely, they have given him eyebrows!
I prefer him looking like a teddy bear but it's really difficult to keep him knot free and clean, he loves mud!

sootysox · 10/02/2012 07:26

Awww what colour is he and name ? Digby is a mixture of grey/silver/white/honey -

Yes, it was difficult to keep him knot free and clean with 'teddy cut' - and agree with you about preference.

How much does your groomer charge Singlediva (!), ? Mine charges £27 and that includes picking him up, bathing, grooming, anal glands, nail trim and ears, and bringing him home. I think that is a very fare price for this area (Suffolk)

He's White/beige/honey coloured. He's only 18mths old, how old is Digby?
I normally pay £25 (doesn't include pick up or anal glands!) but I've just bought a deal, similar to groupon, where I get 3 sessions in 6 month period for £25.
Have u had lhasas before? Oscar is my first and I think they are fantastic.

sootysox · 10/02/2012 14:18

Digby is nearly three. We had a pure white one as a child but I hadn't fully realised how fantastic they are until getting my own one as an adult.

His nature is so laid back and chilled, intelligent, kind, very obedient when treated fairly and respectfully, loves playing - he's a delight with other dogs/humans and a great little guard dog. A little dog with a big heart and personality.

Oscar is a lovely name - our family one was called Simon as came to us when his owners emigrated and didn't want to take him with them - he was two and a half when we got him.

They live to a good age too, and were/are very highly regarded in Tibet where they originate from. So glad you are loving yours :-)

It sounds as though Oscar and Digby have very similar characters apart from the watchdog bit! Oscar is hopeless, in fact he only ever barks at the ironing board, lawnmower, Hoover and BBQ.
I've had to take him to the vets tonight as he had a poorly eye. The vet says he has a lttile ulcer in the eye, probably caused by a scratch. I have 3 cats and he is always pushing his luck with them, he thinks they want to play.

I've never seen a pure White Lhasa, I bet Simon was lovely.

Does Digby like to bury biscuits and chews around the house?

sootysox · 10/02/2012 21:40

Ah, hope Oscar's eye gets better soon x. Funnily enough I have a cat too and Digby pushes his luck also, wanting to play - of course Sox just looks at him with mild distain and will swipe him with her paw if he goes too far !

He reminds me of an annoying little brother as far as she is concerned. Yep, Digby does hide biscuits and chews around the house. He also buries them in the garden - he is so funny and an entertaining little character.

Yep, Simon was quite striking and adorable. They are so cute you can't help but fall in love with them. Digby's grandad was 'best of breed' at Crufts in 2005 which is something he can be proud of (if he actually knew ! :-) )

My Sox is black and white and a rescue puss. Had her for quite a number of years now. Aren't animals lovely company and companions ?

Oh and he loves 'pig's ears' !

OP posts:
Singlediva · 10/02/2012 21:53

Oscar loves pigs ears too, as well as other various digusting things such as tripe (it stinks), paddywack and meat jerky.
The cats look at him and contempt is written all over their faces!

Does Digby, how do I put this, 'enjoy' the company of other dogs, both male and female? Oscar does, especially with other lhasas even though he has been done........

sootysox · 11/02/2012 08:32

Mmmmm no, he's very good and doesn't make a nuisance of himself but of course he has a good sniff .............

He has been 'done' - before that he would hump anything, especially cushions !

He mainly just wants to play with all dogs and ........ cats :)

What is paddywack and meat jerky ? Are you from 'oop North' ? :)

sootysox · 11/02/2012 08:40

Oh, and btw, what is 'groupon'

OP posts:
Singlediva · 11/02/2012 22:54

Yes, I'm from 'oop north', well guessed. Paddywack and meat jerky are both dried meat products, lovely!

Groupon is a website offering cheap deals, put it into google and see what u think. I got the grooming voucher from a similar site run by a local radio station.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

sootysox · 11/02/2012 23:08

Thanks, great week-end - you too xx :)
