Beagle is a destroyer, will destroy anything she can get her jaws on, so we have spent two years being hyper vigilant. She appears to be calming down a bit (fatal to say - I know!)
As she destroyed beds when younger - even plastic one - we have only put blankets in the crate for the last 18 months. I felt sorry for her this last few weeks with it being cold, so I tested her out on an old pillow with her blankets - she didn't destroy it but it got filthy. I wash blankets regulary but obviously wanted a proper bed that can be kept clean as she digs and rolls and gets filthy.
SO I spent £20 on a big pillow type bed with a water proof cover, then bought fleece cover for another £10 to go on top. Have kept it aside until tonight becasue I wanted her to have it after she had been to doggy parlour.
She came home smelling lovely today so I cleaned crate out put lovely new bed in, popped her in crate at bed time and she squished herself up the side of the crate so as not to go on bed, when she first trod on it it made noise because of waterproof cover and went down as air expelled - and now she is terrrified of it!
I left her and went into lounge so what does she do - cry for the next half hour! - went back in and she is still squished up the side looking most upset - so I have had to take it out and put blankets back in - she curled up and we haven't heard a peep.
Bloody stupid Beagle - would be lovely and comfy if she gave it a chance -but she is so stubborn, wasted £30!
