Mouse just ate a AAA battery

at least, there is one missing from a pack he found and ravaged in the last half hour. One of the others has tooth marks on it Sad

Scary.

dh has taken him to the vet, who is going to give him an injection to make him vomit and watch him for an hour or two. Some (US) stuff online says not to make them sick in case corrosive alkaline stuff burns their gastro tract - but knowing Mouse, he would have swallowed it whole anyway.

I feel guilty, but otoh the chicken soup was left alone, ditto a pack of chocolate biscuits, and he hadn't jumped up or chewed anything for ages - so this is really bad luck. It never occured to me to hide brand new pack of Duracell batteries that were up on a higher surface Confused

Crossed paws or happy ending battery-eating stories if you have them, please...

I hope he's ok Elibean, Sprocket (literally) has his paws crossed for him :)

Elibean · 03/02/2012 14:19

Well, Sprockett did the trick Grin

Poor, poor Mouse. He is currently vomiting all over the vet nurse, and dh just found the missing battery - unpunctured - in his POCKET. He says he must have been so shocked by the scattered batteries (and one in Mouse's mouth) that he must have shoved one in his pocket and then forgotten. He is now giving himself such a hard time I do'nt need to Hmm

But really, poor Mouse. At least he's safe Smile

Glad he's ok apart from the vet trip!

Elibean · 03/02/2012 15:05

Thanks Smile

He's home now, quivering a little but otherwise fine! Fast asleep on heated floor now - so much for a sunny afternoon walk

He is going to get DH's fresh chicken stock and rice for tea Grin

Aww bless him! At least he's got a lovely meal out of it Grin Barney is off to the vets tonight for his consultation about being neutered. Poor thing doesn't know what's going to happen!

Elibean · 03/02/2012 17:05

He's also had a late afternoon walk, courtesy of guilty dh Smile

Good luck to Barney, ouch!

Oh dear Elibean, poor Mouse!!

Did dh 'fess up to the vet nurse?

Glad Mouse is ok though. Sam still eats and chews allsorts, I have taken to clearing the hallway off all our coats and bags when we go out, I put a towel over our old wooden trunk (he likes to gnaw the corners) and all other belongings have to be put in the living room (where Sam is not allowed)

Sam has destroyed no less than 3 pairs of shoes, my new brown boots, one telephone handset, dh's electric shaver, two wicker baskets, one weekend bag, two handbags, a pen, a mobile phone charger, one leather belt, two of dd's schleich models, a coat, an apron, the handle of my badminton racket and all 10 wooden knobs off the wardrobe and chest of drawers in my bedroom. Not bad going if you bear in mind he has only lived her since the end of August and spent a month in the vets / at the kennels whilst he was poorly.

Sob.

Hello BLN9 Smile

Easy for me to say, but I think I could forgive Sam just about anything after what he got through (mind you, its just as much what you got through - with chewed boots for good measure!).

Mouse is better at not chewing since we started RAW and/or upped his food intake - but when he threw up everything-but-a-battery at the vets, they noticed he'd eaten some wrappers, half a tennis ball and god knows what else Grin Lab x + rescue = dustbin.

It really is like having a toddler, isn't it?

And yes, dh did 'fess up, and has coddled Mouse all evening - till Mouse threatened to beg for dh's Friday night pizza, at which point dh ditched the guilt and reverted to normal Stern Master Grin
