My 12 week old puppy has just started going for walks. However, he is too little to go round and about with me so the plan is two short walks a day for the time being.

Every morning, I will head to Wimbledon Common in the car after school drop-off where he is off the lead, meets other dogs, explores all the smells.

The question is re the afternoon walk: I could take him back to the Common in the car but some afternoons I just can't - playdates or swimming, etc. Is it unfair to take him to the Common some afternoons to play off the lead and other afternoons, to just walk him round Putney on the lead? or am I better off taking him for a walk round Putney on the lead every afternoon so that it is consistent for him?

or am I unduly fretting? Blush

I really don't think he'll mind. Probably good to get used to all kinds of places and not expect the same thing every time.

Our breeder told us not to get into fixed habits so that the puppy learned to be flexible.

Thank goodness for that! i have to let my 18 month old up sleep, then pick my 3 year old at 2.50 this afternoon, my 6 year old at 3 up the hill and then her swimming lesson starts at 4 30. I wasnt sure how I would manage a trip to the Common too. we will take him for a wander round here instead!
