Does anyone else's dog grunt like an old man and do really squeaky yawns?

We LOVE this about our dog. I don't know if it's a saluki (mix) thing, but she is a right old grumbler, you wouldn't know she's an 11-month old female as she sounds like a 90 year old man sometimes.

Every time she settles down somewhere, she does this old man grumble and groan.

And then when she yawns, she makes a really protracted squeaky noise, almost singing. It makes me laugh every time, she's such a character.

She's quite vocal generally - when she's frustrated, excited or curious about something, she makes these noises which sound exactly like Scrappy's "Uncle Scoo-ooooby" and she's a right old whiner as well. I used to get really paranoid about her being upset about things when she was a puppy, but now I realise it's just part of her character and she is a massive drama queen

Bumble "HARUMPHS" under the duvet a lot at bed time! Grin HmmSometimes when he yawns he makes a strange "uhahhhhhhhhhhh" noise! Smile

Mine harrumphs when she flops on her bed. She's just over 6 months and poor little mite is in season already :( We'd booked in to have her spayed and she sprung this one on us! She also seems to have greasy hair (though that's probably my imagination) and sad eyes (mind you, she is part King Charles Spaniel, so that might be why).

She sometimes grumbles too, kind of Scrappy Doo noises when she's being frustrated.

Dog2 makes a funny squeaky noise that is hilarious. He didn't used to make it, but he started trying to copy our husky's 'woo', and his version just comes out all wrong and squeaky. He's some kind of collie cross, so not naturally given to a 'woo'.

Oh yes! We have a 9 month old beagle and she grunts and groans and makes all kinds of noises. The funniest is a sort of howl type of whine she does at the radiator when she sits next to it. Not sure if she's complaining it's not warm enough or saying thank-you to it, but it is very funny!

This is where the word 'disgruntled' derives from - it means 'displeased, discontented'. When your dog is making those contented settling-down noises, she is 'gruntling'. Happiness is a gruntled dog Grin

My staffie x makes a terrible gurgling noise that we call the exorscist when she cries to get in. I was at the vets and there was another staffie making exactly the same noise! must be a breed thing!

My staffie makes a huge range of strange and funny noises. It's definitely a Staffie thing - look on YouTube for 'talking Staffie', there's loads!

My lab will do a big sigh if he can't stretch out to his liking when we let him on the sofa, he'll look at you and then jump off and lie on the floor looking really unimpressed!
