How can I deter dogs from messing the pavement outside my door?

Is there something I can put down to deter dogs from using the pavement outside my door as a poo area? Chilli powder or something?
Any advice from dog owners?

A large camera and a notice saying that you'll be sending footage of the offenders to local Dog Warden?

Problem is I can't spend all day sitting in wait!
Anything smelly I can put down just to deter them?

Nothing really that wouldn't potentially cause harm to the dogs. If you can spare an afternoon I'd recommend staking out the letterbox with a water pistol and squirting the owners.

Or following them home and putting it through their letterbox.

You can buy "get off" spray

horseradish- they hate the smell of it and they always sniff before they go.

Is the problem that the owners aren't picking it up, or do you just not want dogs 'going' outside your house at all?

If the former, you can report it to your local council, they often want to know about areas where there's a particular problem with this.
