Looked after a pals' 6mth pup today. He pooed, I went to pick up and saw several round worms ( googled after ) wriggling about in his shite.
Totally minged out by it, especially as I hate worms.....
Anyway was wondering how commmom it was to see in poo?

I've had dogs for years and have never seen them before. Have always kept my dogs up to date with worming and apart from walks in the absolute arse end of nowhere have picked up the poo, so I've seen most of what comes out of my dogs' bums.
Pup had been wormed recently, so I wondered if that had moved the worms out, but shouldn't the wormer kill them? They were still moving ( shudder ).

Oh that is disgusting, thanks for that. Now i'll never be able to look my name in the eye again without seeing worm filled dog poo. . . . .

I hope your friend is going to do something about it, I'm sure it's not healthy for the puppy.

I recently spoke to someone who rescued a dog that had horrendous worms. They were so bad that they damaged pups brain and in the end he had to be PTS due to brain damage. Sad

What is your friend worming her dog with? If its bought from a pet store, eg Johnsons or Bob Martins its practically useless. Your friend needs to get 'proper' wormer, Panacur, Drontal, etc. Available from vets or from sites like Petmeds or Viovet.

It is so important to keep up to date with worm and flea treatments. Its not just a 'vanity' thing.

I've a feeling the pup came from a dodgy breeder, so prob little/no worming of the bitch and pups early on. They've got the vet onto it now......

I think wormer (at least, some sorts) damage the worms so they can't hang out in the gut any longer - others 'put them to sleep' or paralyze them, temporarily, so they can be pooed out. So the worming medicine may have worked.

That said, our vet recommended re-worming our pup when we got him (5 months old) as rescue pups often come with heavy worm loads, and need more than one round of medicine.

And all that said, UGH!
