Waterproof boots for walking the dogs

I've always worn wellies for walking the dogs but I have hurt my foot so I've been wearing trainers and they're always soggy/smelly. I'm not sure where to start looking. TIA

I bought some muckers like this which are good. Waterproof bottom bits like wellies then fabric with a zip. However they quite cheap and the fabric around the zip started to pull away after a few days. I do like them but I will buy better quality ones next time, I've always bought walking boots before but they never seem waterproof for long enough.

I fancied a pair of Dubarry but a bit too expensive - but these are just as good - got them in a local Horse Riding shop.

Scrub up well when need cleaning .

May be alot of money but good investment.

I prefer trainers as legs ache if I walk far in boots or wellies. Bought these last week, waterproof trainers at half price. No choice with the colour but don't let the look of them put you off, mine are now an unobtrusive grey/mud colour, extremely light and comfortable, I walked dog for 2 hours the first day I got them and no problems.

Lands End do very comfortable, supportive ankle boots for walking. This year, got myself a pair of Mountain Horse yard boots with velcro fastening and they've been great. Comfy, sturdy, keep my feet warm and dry. I have flat feet, weak ankles so really struggle to find good footwear for dog walking - these have been excellent.

Thank you, I got a warm waterproof coat for christmas and I realised how much nicer it is going out when I know I'll still be warm and dry. I might try those Clarks ones (bit more my budget ). Thanks

Keep your eyes on the Lands End clearance section of their website. Their stuff is pricey (but good) if you pay full price, but I generally get my stuff from them via their clearance section which tends to have brilliant reductions. It helps that I'm not terribly bothered about colours of boots or fleeces (given that they usually end up covered in mud and hair). One of my friends runs a horse related business and swears by LE fleeces etc as being among the best for being hard wearing and good. Like me she always gets them via clearance. Even better if you don't mind waiting till the end of the winter when they usually offload masses of their winter stock - so great for things like down gilets, boots, fleeces, waterproofs etc.

These are the ones I bought myself, they are so nice my mum got a pair too. They are warm, waterproof, with good chunky non-slip soles, but not too heavy. And they are only £14.99!!

I was given these for Christmas, much better than wellies!
