This is my own fault.

Our rescue Staffie had very clearly lived in a house before and according to him this most definately involved lounging around on the sofa. (And being allowed under the covers in bed too - but that is another story) Our pathetic attempts at discipline resulted in him being allowed on the main sofa on his blanket when we are in attendance but being allowed on the tatty soon to be discarded but very comfy sofa in the playroom whenever he wants. The time has now come to retrieve the playroom for grown up use which will involve buying a new sofa, so poor old Porridge will have to vacate.
I am putting the doors back on the room, which were removed years ago to allow for huge Brio layouts.

I will be putting him a folded duvet under my desk, which is his second favourite lounging place but he will have to have somewhere else to park himself when he is not in his own bed in the kitchen. I want to buy him a really lovely, comfy dog bed that will tempt him to be compliant - He is not that big - so there must be something out there that would suit him (short of buying him his own sofa!) Has anyone attempted this exercise and suceeded? What sort of bed did you get?

I can recommend the 'Tuffies' bed! We've the mattress type with a soft fleecy vet bed type cover, very comfy and snug. They come in nest shapes, too. Bit pricey but if you have a big dog/bed loads better than constantly replacing as they can just be hosed down if you don't get a cover. If you do (we have for warmth in winter) they go in the machine at 60 degrees and wash fine. The beds have a futon type filling so stay nice and soft! My sis has 2 staffs and they have a medium nest each and a large mattress type to share in her office. Lasted her years and she says she'd never have another dog bed!

Bia bed, if you can get hold of one. They're Swedish, I think, and not always easily available. So comfortable. I'd happily sit in ours (and do).

Zippy beds (on ebay) are fab, very hardwearing and our lab loves his, going to get him the divan bed style one next (if you look them up you will see what I mean!)

I shall check all these out - thanks for the suggestions. I wish I could explain to him what is going on!

We have this, which is as comfy as a sofa (probably more comfy than ours!).
