I am finding it very difficult coping with sloppy poos . Puppy is only 9/10 wkd old and at least she is pooing outside but what is the best way to clean it up. I am just ending up with a smeary mess everywhere at the minute! Can anyone offer some tips? And when does the poo get firmer?

The poo should be firm now - what is she fed?

CalamityKate · 16/12/2011 14:06

Sloppy poo isn't normal.

nikon1968 · 16/12/2011 14:11

My pup had runny poo for about 6-8 weeks after we got him [at 8 weeks old].

Scrambled egg always worked for him, but it did take a while before everything was firm.

As for picking up lots of bags and a small trowel and lots of kitchen towel on hand.

Thankyou everybody. she is fed on bakers complete puppy food which is what the breeder was feeding her.

Bakers is complete and utter shite. What the hell sort of breeder feeds Bakers? Hmm

jdgirl · 16/12/2011 18:02

What would be a better alternative ?

Almost anything. Rat droppings.... sawdust.... staples....

No, seriously, it's shite. And in fact is quite expensive for what it is.

The problem is, it's full of additives and colourants which make it look pretty, and it's got a sugary coating which makes it nice and shiny and yummy looking, but it's like feeding your children M and M's for every meal.

I'm no expert on the various foods (you're probably best off asking Minimuu), and I'm not necessarily saying you need to go for the high-end stuff (I feed Autarky which works out at about 15 quid for a 15 kilo sack - certainly not the best or more expensive but the dogs do really well on it) but honestly, Bakers is just shit.

Inthepotty · 16/12/2011 18:36

Bin the bakers!

Fish for dogs, Burns, Skinners, even James wellbeloved would be a better.

Lots of threads of best things to feed pups. I personally feed RAW/BARF

FestiveFriedaWassailsAgain · 16/12/2011 21:42

I used Skinners puppy food. Cheaper than Bakers, not full of crap. Poos were sloppy til he got a bit bigger though, were quite soft/sloppy at that age and he was/is a healthy dog. They firmed up on their own.

On an adult Skinners food now and nice tidy poo.
