Do I need a vet for a sore paw pad??

Thornton has started limping this evening. I have checked him and he has a sore pad, not bleeding and looks like his taken a layer off :(

I'm thinking just to clean it but unsure if that will be enough.

Well he was my dog I'd be tempted to bathe it carefully and keep an eye on him to start with. First sign of swelling, a temperature, lethargy or sickness and I'd take him straight down to the vet, but from your description it sounds like a graze.

There are probably some vets on here who can advise you properly though.

Hi lisa my dog started limping on Friday night too! Could see a small graze on pad. We took him to the vets and they charged us £30 to say keep an eye on it, rest it and bathe in salt water Xmas Shock

Thanks all, his not limping so leaving him to clean it himself and keep eye on it.
