lock how is sam doing? I kept reading bits and bobs of your thread. I hope he's recovering well!

BehindLockNumberNine · 14/12/2011 22:31

Hi spaghetti, Sam is doing better. It is going to be a long slow road though. He is finally putting on a bit of weight, he is on a strict diet of prescription i/d, rice, pasta, chicken and scrambled egg. Oh, and the odd bonio. Nothing else.

He is off the metronidazol (anti-biotics) and we are slowly stepping down the steroids. He is still on pre-biotics. He also goes to the vet every week to be checked, weighed and to receive a B12 injection. It is costing an arm and a leg but he is such a nice dog he is worth it.

He is currently not allowed to exercise as he has lost almost all of his muscle mass and it will be a while before we can re-build that.

So no mad running and no frustrations at ball-catching labradors for a while yet.

But on the whole, better. Fingers crossed he continues to do well. Smile

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 15/12/2011 10:13

Oh that's good, I'm glad he's getting there, even if it is slowly! He sounds like a fab dog, and I've nosied at your pics, he's gorgeous!

monkey what food is that? I have a large sack of CSJ CP xtra in our downstairs bathroom. I was instructed to get that as it's W/G free which is best for greys as they're not very tolerant of wheat or gluten apparantly.

Well Sox (not Socks, oops!) has arrived at the kennels but I've not heard anything yet. He's there on the site but no picture either.

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 15/12/2011 12:08

Oh my. I've just found, wait for it. . . . doggy bathrobes and bunny or duckie slippers Xmas Shock

monkeyLFDTwench · 15/12/2011 13:42

Spaghetti it's Harringtons - have been using it for about a month now, and it seems to have helped a great deal with the flatulence and more solid poo too.

On the pack it says no soya, dairy, or added wheat, and seems reasonably priced although he will of course still help me out with a morsel of cooked chicken or beef.

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 16/12/2011 05:33

It sounds like good stuff monkey if it helps with the flatulence!

Well DD just woke up so I decided to check the site again, and there is a picture of Sox now! Quite a handsome chap really Xmas Smile lets hope he's suitable!

NotMostPeople · 16/12/2011 09:58

Link please.

My Lurcher was fascinated by the inch or two of snow we had this morning, not too impressed by it being cold but he tore around the garden did a few laps then ran inside and snuggled up.

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 16/12/2011 10:35

Hmmm, don't think I can link via phone. So will do it later. His racing name is 'Bunlougher Swift' Xmas Grin I wonder if he's a swift iced bun lover?

We haven't had any snow yet Xmas Sad forcast for today though apparantly! Your lurcher has the right idea, going inside and snuggling up!

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 22/12/2011 10:05

Blimey it's been quiet! Everyone being busy with christmas?

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 23/12/2011 21:00

This is Sox

lostythesnowman · 23/12/2011 22:11

Sox looks gorgeous, my friend was close to kidnapping a brindle puppy she saw last week, lovely.

Currently holed up in a hotel somewhere near the m56 or something on the way home for Christmas but I had to share this with you. I knew pointy owners were fab from this thread but I met a whippety mum last week and had a lovely fuss with two of hers and last night had a hand drawn card of a whippet through the door to 'Silver's new owners', we don't even get him for another week, how fabulous was that? Can't wait to be an official member of the pointy gang. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone x

stleger · 23/12/2011 22:28

Ddog who is a bit whippety and of rather mixed parentage besides found a handbag when sniffing around on walkies this morning. He took it to the police, it was stolen from a parked car and the owner thanked him... hero dog! Happy Christmas to all sighthoundy types Xmas Smile.

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 23/12/2011 22:54

Snowman I take it you are Lostinwales then? Xmas Grin Gosh only another week to go? I bet your DSs are beside themselves with excitement! Same as you, I can't wait to become an official member either. The card sounds lovely. Have a fabulous christmas!

What a hero leger, I bet the owner was so relieved! I bet he'll be getting an extra special christmas present this year! Hope you have a fab christmas too

Xmas Smile
BehindLockNumberNine · 23/12/2011 23:02

Sox looks beautiful, are you moving forward with adopting him?

Scuttlebutter · 23/12/2011 23:16

Ooh, Sox, you handsome, handsome boy. Look at that long, beautiful neck, just begging for collars..... Xmas Grin

Lost, the puppy farm info has come through - I've emailed it to you, so some light(!!) reading for you over Christmas, once you're home, and in between hound snuggles... Xmas Smile The card sounds fab. Welcome to Club Pointy!

Confession time Xmas Blush - I went up to Olympia last Sunday (with Quiet Tiger) and we had a fab time. The shopping village was awesome - full of things you never knew you needed for anyone who likes horses or dogs. I came home with a rather stylish and lovely warm snuggly greyhound coat for one of our boys. He is a very large boy, and the 28" which is the usual biggest size is a bit snug on him, so managed to get a 30" for him and it's been perfect on these cold wet days.

Wishing all a very happy and pointy Christmas and a new year filled with lovely Grunds and all assorted pointy hounds. Fill your love tank - grab a grund!!

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 24/12/2011 00:55

Well lock I think so. By which I mean I keep meaning to ring LGT to ask if they've child tested him yet, and I keep forgetting Xmas Blush if he turns out to be baby safe then we'll more than likely have him very soon! Although DP has an issue with his colouring, he says he looks like someones puked all over him!

Forgot to mention what my grandma said when I told her we were getting an ex racer hound. She said "Oh so they recycle dogs now do they?" Xmas Confused

scuttle it's ok, no-one in here will judge you for buying yet more grund accessories, got them wardrobes yet? Xmas Grin

Merry pointy christmas everybody! Xmas Smile

roseyposeysmum · 28/12/2011 13:17

Can we join as well ?

I have got my two pointy babies Tom a rather stocky lurcher and Wilf a skinny little lurcher. They are 13 weeks old and gorgeous. We lost my 15 year old pointy in March but he opened our eyes to the wonderful world of pointys, dog coats posh collars and tassles.

batsintheroof · 28/12/2011 13:48

What did I say about my grey never stealing food?

Well, today she managed to nab a whole salted inch thick with fat ham rind and also took two huge mouthfuls of homemade fatballs (for the birds) before we could take it off her. Vets said she'd be fine. My nose isn't though...... the farting and belly gurgling didn't take long to arrive

lostythesnowman · 28/12/2011 15:40

Shhh bats I'm trying to pretend that there will be NO farting (mind you in a house with three boys and DH will I even notice a difference?)

Well I'm going to start needing all your advice, this time tomorrow whippety pup will be here, eeeek! I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm not sure about having a puppy but am really looking forward to having the hard work done and having a lovely dog to keep me company and take me for walks. Grin (is it too early to start buying beautiful collars?)

lostythesnowman · 28/12/2011 15:41

ooh you've got pups too, I will be following you around begging for advice, have you any pictures?

lostythesnowman · 28/12/2011 15:59

Scuttle thank you, we're just back from Christmas with my folks (they have no computer Shock) so I will catch up tomorrow.

FiveHoursSleep · 28/12/2011 16:12

Ohh- I haven't seen this thread before. We have a two and a bit year old Saluki greyhound cross. I've always had utility breeds before, so am finding a hound an interesting challenge. She's lovely with the kids, just a bit unpredictable off lead ( likes to RAARRRRRR at small squeaky dogs but is a complete coward if something Rarrrs at her) and steals anything that isn't nailed down.
DH keeps forgetting what she is like and went without his steak last week because he left it on the kitchen bench unguarded. She also ate Santa's mince pie, and half a gingerbread house in the last few days....

lostythesnowman · 29/12/2011 14:19

I am sitting here with an 8 week old whippet asleep on my chest GrinGrinGrin. He was sick in the car but I was prepared and no mess was made. Put him straight in the garden where he had a big wee, he's had a drink and a potter and is now sleeping happily on me where all my babies have slept. Photo when I can get to a computer. So happy!

BehindLockNumberNine · 29/12/2011 15:48

Awww, lost, am jealous... We have a nearly-two-year old whippety lurcher who we got from a greyhound rescue trust in August. He is wonderful and we love him to bits. I frequently wonder how lovely he would have been as a puppy...

Pictures soon please...

lostinwales · 29/12/2011 17:02

Right I think I have managed to get pictures on. They aren't brilliant as if he's not asleep on my knee he is going at 100 miles an hour Grin. Just spent 30 mins in the garden with him trying to persuade him to wee/poo but he was more interested in chewing everything and eating leaves!

Your boy looks beautiful Lock, I have been following his thread, I'm glad he is getting better, I already can't bear the thought of Silver getting poorly and we've only had him one afternoon.
