Introducing a new puppy to our 2 Siamese Cats....

we have 2 male Siamese cats who we rescued lasst year. They're lovely but a bit nervous of otyher cats....we want to rescue a puppy which is thought to be a Staffy cross Rotweiler....will the cats learn to accept a pup? Or is this a bad idea?

What are they generally like with dogs? Maybe get a friend with a dog to visit and see how they react.

We had two cats when we got a lab puppy. Once just ignored it, the other hated it. He'd sit on the dining table chairs under the table, lying in wait to swipe the dog as he went past. The dog was trained to leave the cats alone.

I think in our house it probably helped that the cats were allowed upstairs whilst the dogs were not, so the cats did have their own space away from the dogs.

I want to carrry on giving the cats their freedom as they are very good....littler trained and more or less asleep all day....in my spare cupboard in my room

They've never met a dog before.
