Dog still extremely thirsty 2+ days after general anaesthetic

My 11 year old dog had a dental under general anaesthetic on Thursday. He recovered fine, is eating and pooing and exercising as usual. But he's been drinking a lot - loads more than usual, probably about 3-4 bowls a day (when it would usually be less than 1 bowl a day) and is frequently vomitting up the water (presumably because he's drinking too much too fast).

I've had a look on the web and it says that thirst is usual straight after anaesthesia, but I can't find anything about it continuing beyond the immediate recovery period. Obviously my vets isn't open until Monday so I can't ask (unless it is an out of hours emergency?) so I was wondering if anyone had experience of this and can advise? Thanks in advance.
