Dog guard for car that does not attach to headrest?

We're picking up our retired greyhound in the next few weeks and are looking for a dog guard to fit our '05 Skoda Octavia. Unfortunately, in order to fit the kids' car seats comfortably, we took out our back seat headrests. And promptly lost them both. Never thought it would be a problem as we run our cars into the ground...

And now it's proving rather hard to find a dog guard that doesn't secure to the headrests now.

I didn't realise they did fit to the headrests. Our dog guard fits to a mounting in the pillar of the door but ours is a Vauxhall. Does this fit to the headrest?

If not couldn't you pick up some headrests from a breaker's yard?

Get the proper manufacturer's approved one, the generic kind never fit properly (and the extendible tension kind are crap!). We have one in our '01 Skoda Octavia and it bolts into two lugs on either side of the boot, doesn't touch the head rests.

Alternatively look at manufacturers like Barjo or Lintran who make guards and tailgates to spec, pricey but worth every penny.

i would also recommend getting the manufacturers approved dog guard. i tried a few from argos and halfords and they were all rubbish. i bought the renault one for my specific car - cost about £120 iirc - and its very sturdy, easy and quick to remove. had it a few years now. it doesnt attach to headrests

Thank you all so much - I do think we'll go for the manufacturer's model. I had no idea they even existed! We've had too many bad buys in the past and would like to avoid false economies.

He's only 3 (the dog that is) so hopefully he'll be with us for a good few years to come!

Try eBay for manufacturer specific! We tried two different universal ones which were crap, forever coming back to car to dog asleep on front seat! Got a Renault guard on eBay for 99p and £7 p&p, thrilled with it and it hasn't moved after a year of much abuse from our boxer.
