Perfect Family Dog Seeks A Home - Full Rescue Support.

Cleo came into rescue having been used as a breeding bitch. She's great with children, good with other dogs too - currently housed with 5 others of both sexes - and walks well on the lead. She loves to be near you and loves a fuss :) Cleo will be fully vaccinated, wormed, de-flead, microchipped & spayed before going to her new home.

Cleo is a pretty, fawn coloured, medium sized girl with a quizzical look on her face and a wrinkly brow. :o She will come to her new home with full, lifetime support from the rescue and a promise that they will take her back if you ever couldn't keep her, even if that is in 10 years time. As with all responsible rescues this one will homecheck you and answer all your questions prior to rehoming.

If you could offer Cleo a home and have the love, time and commitment to spare please let me know. I'll try to put a photo up of Cleo shortly.

Cleo sounds wonderful. Four weeks earlier, and I would have jumped at the chance - she sounds like a female version of Mouse!

Hope she finds a home v v soon, and can't wait to see her picture anyway...

thank you, obviously if ralph was out of this teenage phase, and the kids were grown up i would be looking more. got my hands full atm.

Three dogs are a piece of cake (barring the moulting :o ). I know which of us has the greater skills, the more patience... and it ain't me lovey! :o

Cleo sounds lovely DBF, but as we already have 3 girls here, including one who was rehomed to us from the breeder, I really cant have another.

Also, despite being a dogs paradise here we would never pass any rehoming criteria as we have no garden fences, only fields and forest. Sadly my next door neighbour who used to have a lab was turned down for a rescue dog as his garden isnt secure either, even though we are really rural and I have 3 dogs wandering our communal grounds.

Have never lost a dog yet, but I always have bitches, and usually speyed, so they tend to stay at home Smile

She sounds gorgeous, DBF, but I too have a houseful! My poor old boy is 16 and reaching the end Sad, and witchy-dog has had so many issues we want to see how she will be as an only-dog before we consider taking on another.

But I'll keep my ears pricked for you! Wink

I was trying to transfer a photo over from one FB page to another, couldn't work out what the hell I was doing how to do what I wanted to and gave up... but instead found photos of Cleo and info all here ready and waiting for you. :)

The contact on that page, Adele, is lovely, as is Rob, the owner of Canine99 rescue - he's one of the most dedicated and passionate rescuers I have ever met.

Now... who got her breed right up there /\ ? :o

As a dog lover, I think she looks gorgeous.

As a parent, I'm not so sure. I also think that staffs have got such a bad press it'd put off DCs friends.

This is such a problem with bad breeding of staffs isn't it?

I am torn, as I think I'd want to be the person that proves everyone wrong, but OTOH what if it didn't work out, and she was another staff that wasn't really 100% it's be heartbreaking for all concerned.

(BTW we have a heinz 57 who is wonderful with kids, so I know it's possible)

I would expect a reputable rescue never to place a dog in a home where they weren't as sure as they humanly could be that it would work out - bad for the owners, the dog, for rescue, for the breed too to do otherwise smacka.

You'll note that Adele, the rescue angel, is a parent. :)

As far as "putting off DCs friends", pffft! I dunno where to start and am going to have to pick my words unusually carefully here so as not to offend. :o

From my own point of view I would say that a well considered adult decision is not the business of anyone else, particularly not other people's children. Some might have an issue with you owning cats (dirty, cat poo risks of toxo etc), some might not approve of your "dangerous" too super-fast sports car, some might not like the pond in your garden, some might not like your preference for a big dog rather than a snappy little ankle biting git smaller one :o ... where do you draw the line?

Do you not do things because other people's children, infrequent visitors to your own home, don't like it? Or do you make an adult decision and educate the buggers them about the difference between the lie that is "this breed is bad" and the truth that is the deed is bad and that ^any dog, not properly cared for, supervised and trained, can be a problem, irrespective of breed... and that Staffordshire Bull Terriers are the only breed which the Kennel Club specifically state to be recommended for families.

Just sayin'... :o

Sometimes I put our beautiful child friendly dog upstairs whilst DCs friends are visiting, for his sake, and for the fact that not everyone likes dogs. I don't really like cats, but would never harm one, and sat politely at someone elses house whilst one sat on my lap for a bit. No harm there.

I think that on the whole we do things with thought about how everyone in the family will be affected. If owning another dog would make DCs life more tricky then I probably wouldn't do it.

I think we've been so lucky with my lovely rescue mongrel. He's completely wonderful and has never put a paw wrong. I just don't know anyone could hope for such good luck again?

Oh I don't know. I'm not making sense. I think whilst we have preschool kids we'll stick with mongrel No1, and once they're older and more reliable, we'll perhaps look to expand the pack.

She's beautiful - we have a mastiff cross (who could be Cleo's twin) and I can honestly say she is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever owned.
She is easy going, but bouncy when you take her out, laid back, but a fab guard dog and just has the most amazing personality. He's also the happiest dog I've ever known - the soundtrack to our days is her tail thumping into things as it wags.

Whoever takes her on will be so lucky.

What a gorgeous looking dog. I am afraid I can't help but really hope that someone comes forward to give that lovely girl the home she deserves.
