Rookie dog walker - can anyone help with delicate turd problem? (Do not read before eating)

I need help - myself and DH are temporarily walking two large dogs to help out an ill friend. They're lovely, sure, but problem is one of them has a dodgy tummy and (ahem) the output is a bit loose, consistency of double cream. Question is how do I do the responsible thing and "scoop the poop" when I can't pick it up with a bag? Owner says she covers it but doesn't try to remove it, but not happy about that. Any ideas before next outing? I've seen poop hoop, freeze sprays and shovels but not sure which will work. Also thinking about kitchen roll as a possibility.

luckily only a rare event, I just do the best I can, also ask your friend to look at diet if this is regular because it is not normal.

I have seen wood shavings/kitchen roll deployed first, it's not pretty but seemed to help.

BUT really the poo shouldn't be like that and either the dog has an infection or the wrong diet for its sensitive digestive system. The owner needs to get it sorted. IME either Nature Diet or BARF (raw meat and bones) produce the best poo for dogs with sensitive digestion.

If she sorted that the dog would feel better and she could pick up her dog's turds as she should.

A bottle of water to wash it away?

Try to keep the dog walking until you get somewhere 'safe' (verges with autumn leaves are good!). Carry a water bottle with a 'sport' top so you can squirt to clean up. Ditto LOTS of poo bags and anti-bac handwipes for you.

if you can get dog to poo near home then you can take a watering can out to wash away the residue. i have had to do this when mine have had a dodgy tummy.

agree with others that runny poo is not normal. one of the reasons i feed my dogs good quality dry food is so that i only have to pick up two poos per dog per day which are firm and non smelly.

Our previous dog used to use walks as an opportunity to squeeze out as many poos as he could, and by the last one they were always a bit runny.
I used to take lots of kitchen roll and a bottle of water and loads of bags and baby wipes and hand sanitiser - in fact taking him for a walk was a total pain and the children would never go with him. If thee dogs poo is really runny they do need to see the vet, and live on rice and scrambled eggs until they are better.
