Fish4Dogs Price Problems - is it my maths or what?

I put an order in for Fish4Dogs a week ago. it's only just 5 mins ago arrived, but that's by the by, they DO say delivery can take up to 7 days...

Anyway, I ordered 3 15kg sacks of puppy large bite so I could benefit from the "15% off if you spend over £100" deal as advertised. Yes I know that the boys aren't puppies but pup food is good for keeping weight on a lean GSD and this is by far the cheaper way of doing it. Or so I thought.

Three sacks of Puppy kibble at £62.50 each = £187.50

Less the 15% bulk purchase discount and my Puppy Club member discount - brings it down to a far more affordable £98.94

All well and good.

Today I get an email saying, "We recently emailed you tell you that from today, Tuesday 16th August 2011, we're making some changes to the Fish4Dogs Puppy Club pricing.

As a valued Puppy Club member, we'd like to offer you greater discounts on our food than we can offer new members.

To get this new special loyalty discount, please use the following code at the checkout INSTEAD of your existing PCXXX code: PCYYY"

This "valued" customer wanted to find out how much my next order will drop to with the new, "greater discounts" so I entered into the website the same 3 x 15kg sacks of food, plus 15% discount, plus my "new special loyalty discount" code and looked forward to seeing how much today's bill of £98.94 would be lowered by.

Huh!

Next time - if I buy from Fish4Dogs a next time - my bill for the same 3 sacks of food will be £124.95 Shock Angry

I'm tempted to email Fish4Dogs and ask where these greater discounts are.

More worryingly still, if their prices have risen across the board I dread to think of how it's going to affect Poplar Farm Kennels, who use Fish4Dogs for many of their special needs dogs including the dozen or so who are epileptic. :(

Or is it my maths and I've got it all wrong? Am I missing something?

To coin a phrase, "It's barking".

I have noticed that huge numbers of products have increased in price - especially premium brand pet foods (being a bit of an animal feed anorak). I've noticed that feed prices for everything have crept up and up over the last 12 months. I use Royal Canin for the cats - a veterinary diet. Not only have they changed the formula from fish and rice to duck and rice (duck is cheaper), but the cost has gone up by £2.50 for a 3.5kg bag.

I think the pricing structure is bizarre to begin with. I'm not a breeder but joined the breeder's club with a made-up kennel name and a £55 15kg bag of the fish working dog food suddenly became £32. Shock

I can't complain really as I don't use it a great deal, only for overnight stays at rallies when I can't be doing with cool boxes full of raw meat, but I'd be very annoyed if I were regularly paying £55 a sack.

DogsBestFriend · 16/08/2011 16:55

Bloody hell!

Thanks hephaestus. :) I've just signed up as a breeder (which leaves a nasty taste in my mouth as you can imagine!) and have seen the price of exactly the same order drop to £102.00

I don't mind that, an increase of a little over £3 for 3 sacks... far better than an increase of £25!

Lonecatwithkitten · 06/12/2012 13:44

I would prepare yourself for the fact that all the dog foods are discontinuing 15kg bags and changing to 12kg and maintaining the price.

i use F4D but didn't know that about breeder reductions. i'm going to sign up as a breeder too.
