What food do you feed your Labrador ?

Have a 6 month old black lab who is gorgeous though not blessed with the intelligence stick and of course loves his food!

We feed him James Wellbeloved dry complete food and he has just moved onto the Junior food, we started him on this brand from day one (well day One of coming to us at 9 weeks) as our old Springer always had it and did well on it etc etc .. however he does seem to have a wind problem (to be polite) more so than I remember from our previous dog but is fine in all other aspects with pickupable poo etc and everyone comments on his shiny coat...so is this just him or is a food side affect ?..just wondered what your Lab is on/what you'd recommend ..

I feed mine Burns - minor wind problems and lovely, healthy, shiny dogs. Another plus is that they do smallish, firm poos that are easy to pick up. I tried another food a while ago and the poo was HUGE! Straight back to Burns!

My 9 year old labs are fed Chappie dry complete food (plus whatever leftovers and cat food they can find). One of them has a sensitive tummy and most other food doesn't agree with him. Not a lot of wind.

Our labs only 20wks still on what the breeders started her on which is pro plan-seems to suit. No wind, no runny poo, all small and solid. Coat also shiny. So we haven't changed her.

ooh Thanks everyone ..will have a look at the pet shop this week and see if they stock any of those ..thinking about it his poo is BIG and anything that stops the gassing of the house is worth a try ...incense sticks are struggling to cope !

My Lab is on Arden Grange and isn't windy at all. Wouldn't say he does small poos, but he is a 43kg lean but tall show dog, they are firm and easy to pick up.

Our labs are on James Wellbeloved and I think that it is a fantastic food. We've never had any problems with it. Perhaps try a different flavour? Our friend's lab is always very windy after any type of poultry for some reason.

Is he eating too fast and taking in lots of air at the same time? This could cause him to have wind. It might be worth feeding him his daily ration in smaller portions more frequently. Labs are always enthusiastic with their food!!

I found a cheap bowl on the internet (plastic and about £7) that has raised bits in it to stop my black lab eating too fast. He would inhale his food before and often just regurgitate it whole and unchewed, but the bowl has solved the problem.
