what do you do when you are out for the day?

We dont normally do day trips out and any holiday we either take Thornton with us or kennels. Wehave a day trip to legoland next week, but not quite sure what to do with him?
What do you lot do?

We shut her in our utility and conservatory type room as they are both tiled (in case) and neither too warm nor too cold. Also has her bed and bowls in there.

There are kennels at Legoland

I get a pal to come and take them out for a walk and feed them.

I drop my dog at my dog sitters if it is going to be a long day out. It costs £12 but I feel it is well worth it and she has a nice time too.

My dogs are fine for a while on their own. They get a long walk before we go and something yummy to keep them occupied.

Not sure if Legoland still have kennels now or not. Worth checking out though.

Leave ours at home after a long walk if day out is local.

On holiday, have used a kennels just for a day so we can do a theme park. Our dog is def more distressed by day boarding in kennels than being at home for a while so wouldn't do it at home.

Legoland do have kennels but it's first come, so would hate to get there and find we couldnt use it!
We have asked our friend to pop on fr a little while mid afternoon. I have never left him for more than 6 hours, but don't like to leave him for more than 4!
It's a long day for him to be alone and no access to outside to do his business.

We drop him off with either DPs parents or our dog walker, if we're going to be out for a long time. He can be at home for a few hours on his own, but not all day.

Definitely wouldn't leave him in kennels, as he'd be distressed at being left alone in a strange place.

Walk first thing in the morning. Then we leave ours with a chew toy. As long as it's not all day every day shouldn't be an issue. Ideally if you have a friendly neighbour to look in on him and maybe even walk him the time will go quicker for him.

He'll be better off at home than at kennels, especially in a noisy place like a theme park.

We dont often leave ours for more than a few hours, we have a few trips planned for the end of the holidays, i'm tempted to leave the back door open for our dog as no one can get into our garden, we have high fences and a high gate which bolts from the inside.

Could you leave him with a friend or pay a teenager a few pound to check on him and let him out mid day?

friends son is coming to let him into garden and I will leave frozen kong for him to chew his way though. I would leave back door open but he is likely to bark at anyone in the woods which might drive my neighbours mad

I think if they are ok being left for 4 + hours then they will be fine for an occasional longer period. Our dog was absolutely fine after 11 hours once when the dog walker missed him out ().

We do a long walk in the morning, plenty of toilet opportunities before we go, plenty of food and water, a chew and preferably someone to let him out half way through the day.

Most of the time he doesn't even get off his bed when we get back (lazy lurcher)

Sounds OK, if there's someone coming round to let him out for toilet needs. It's not ideal for dogs to be alone for a long time, but I'd rather do what you're doing than put mine in kennels, as at least I know he feels safe and settled at home.
