it started a week ago after having a bob martin flea treatment (no fleas, just routine drops behon back of neck, but has usually had frontline). If i can avoid taking her to the vet i want to as really could do without vet bill at moment, any advice ? she is up to date on immunisations, flea and worming treatment and is otherwise healthy. is there anything i can try over the weekend before giving in and taking her to the vets next week?

If you can get any, try Johnson's Tea Tree spray. here

It worked a treat on my one-time foster staffie, who had a stress related skin condition which, from what you say, was similar to your pooch's problem.

ExmaRid ointment was also very good (less so the colour and smell though!).

PS the Johnson's stuff is also brilliant when I get mozzie bites too, highly recommended!
