Today whist out for a walk...a dog owner was yelling for her dog in the park. At speed a Jack Russell called....Shackleton...comes flying out of some bushes.

Big name, small dog! IMO Brilliant Grin

Devo the whippet is the best name ever Grin

I've met a GSD called Rizla & a shaggy x called Kickstart... that one belonged to a biker.

Personal faves - Shroedinger for a dog & Pavlov for a cat.

At our first puppy class, the trainer asked Alan and Nigel to come forward for their certificate. No idea which was the owner and which the yellow lab.

We may be getting a lovely rescue pup called Risk in a week or so - the dds want to re-name him Zero. I'm thinking Zero-Risk is just what I'm after Wink

mum47 · 27/09/2011 16:01

Our beagle was called Missy when we got her - pretty sure it is short for Mischief. On walks have met a huge irish wolfhound type called Gladys, and a mongrel called Chuff. Would't like to have to be shouting for him in the park.

freakydeaky · 29/09/2011 15:01

We had a rescue dog - border collie crossed with something unidentified!! She was SO happy to be out of Battersea Dogs Home that she bounded along the pavement and scrambled madly into the back seat of the car....We called her Scrambles :)

GrimmaTheNome · 29/09/2011 15:13

Eli - I thought Risk was a good name for an MNers dog, when you think how many non-doghousers think they are risky!

I always hope to meet a dog called McDuff - so you can say 'Lead on, McDuff!' at walkies time. Partnered of course by Lady Macbeth's other dog, Spot ('Out, out damned Spot')

I used to call my previous dachs Chipolata sometimes because he was a skinny sausage. Schapps is another good dachsie name I've come across.

I have a 10 week old JRT called Snoop.

My first dog was Jip and he was smarter and funnier than most humans I have met since!

clam · 25/10/2011 15:52

While out walking just now I just met a poodle called Basil.

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 01/12/2011 12:25

Just have to bump!

We're adopting a greyhound this weekend called Robbie.

Heard a story on the radio a while ago about a man who named his dog 'Come here', and when he wanted the dog to come to him he had to shout 'Come here! To me!' :o

ChickensThinkYouCanGetStuffed · 01/12/2011 13:45

I knew a great dane called Merlin, and a JRT called Stinks.

Avantia · 01/12/2011 16:24

FENTON !

But no one ever calls their dog that name again Grin

lostinwales · 01/12/2011 17:19

Just because I'm excited he's nearly here, a silver/blue whippet called QuickSilver (DH wanted to go one step further and call him Mercury but as it took me 24 hours to work out why I vetoed it, anyway it would be weird to shout down the beach)

PuffOfSmoke · 01/12/2011 17:23

We had a Deefor as in 'D for' dog...

Old next door neighbour had a Mr Johnson (WTF??). Was very funny to hear her call on him or if he ran away, sounded like she was shouting on her husband!

redpanda13 · 01/12/2011 21:26

We used to meet a lab called Robert on our walks in the park. Owner said her children had named him.
Very elderly Sikh couple who owned the off sales where I used to live had a rottie called Mary. Mary was the most pampered pooch I have ever met.
Oh and we met a springer named Spanner once.
As a child I owned a female cat named Rupert the Bear. Rupert for short.
DD rides a pony named Bill who once had a stablemate named Ben.

deste · 01/12/2011 22:34

NorkyPies · 01/12/2011 23:17

I'd like a dog called Bailey.

My dad has an Ozzie, and ozzies mates are Blue, George and Mia.

frankenonsense · 02/12/2011 00:06

We had a Sally. Her most favourite dog friend was a lad of almost the same breed called Gary. So we had When Gary Met Sally.

drowninginlaundry · 02/12/2011 00:14

Our labradors are called Donut and Peanut. The choccy one also recognises her nickname Stinky.
