Looking for a really good brush for labrador

My lab has a never ending shedding coat. I can brush him every day and go back to pet him 20 mins later and loads of hair still comes out. He has lost loads of his Winter/Spring hair since the better weather came in laughs, his coat feels thinner but still comes out non-stop. I've tried the standard brushes you get from pet shops with the same result each time. I'm hoping someone knows of a miracle brush out there?

Furminators are good and you can usually get a bargain from Amazon, try this link...
furminator I have 3 hairy dogs and this works a treat on them.

I tried the furminator but my lab hated it, seemed to catch the coarse hair on his back and he kept snapping at it so I stopped using it. Cat loves being furminated so not a complete waste of money. I now use a Kong Zoom Groom which pup likes as its not scratchy. It has more of a massaging action than a brush and seems to loosen and get rid of hair.

Thanks both, haven't tried either of those. I'll give them a go.

Shedding blades are good for labs, old fashioned but can't be beat!

You will get one on Amazon, go with double sided one, use courser side first then finer side.

Thanks Multitask, shedding blades sound very efficient, I will have a look on Amazon

I love the furminator, I get a good tennis ball size of fur off my lab every day, he loves it, and it's more fun than hoovering Grin

VeryStressedMum · 21/07/2011 00:37

The only thing that will help is to shave your dog's fur off Grin I have a furminator and it takes off a huge ball of fur everytime but still more hair falls off the dog, I can literally see it falling off as she walks (yellow dog and black tiled kitchen is not a good combination!).
Only thing is to vacuum twice a day and hope winter comes quick.

I use a horse's rubber curry comb, which works rather well and the dogs love getting brushed with it.
And accepting a house covered in yellow and black dog hair.....Wink

I've ordered the furminator and have a rubber brush with spiky bits that looks like the Kong which I found in the garage so I'm going to see how I get on with those. I'm a bit frightened of the shedding blade, looks like I'd take my finger off but if the others don't work I will gird my loins and have a go. I'm near a Country stores type place so will pop in and look at the curry comb, but I just draw the line at shaving him, The poor lad would be freezing!
