Good dog owners, I owe you a heartfelt apology

for all those times when a dog has jumped up at me and I have said to the fretful owner 'No, no it's fine, I love dogs' and proceed to fuss and talk nonsense to their dog Because I have now HAD TRAINING and know that is probably the last thing you want. Having been told that if my dog jumps up at me I should turn away from them and not make a fuss so they don't find it a rewarding thing to do.

It's so confusing. Does that mean that the dog needs training, the owner needs training and the gen public needs training too?

TBH there seem to be be so many rules to remember

def the last thing we want. if you say no to the dog, makwe them sit, wait and then fuss them do please do that with ralphie as he loooves fusses. but he still forgets himself and jumps a lot.

basically it our case its ralph thinking he is stil la cute fluffy pup and tries to get away qwith thinmgs. he is learning, but slowly. he even sat today whilst a small fluffy puppy pranced in front of him, and didn t try to paw the puppy.

this is a mahor problem with my very small dog, i have tried so hard to train her not to jump up, but everyone always goes ahhhhhhhhhhh and fusses her, also when I see bigger dogs they get fussed because it takes no effort and people dont bend down to fuss cherry so I can kind of see her point.

still would rather people liked them though tyhan were horrible to them, so dont worry.
I have trained regular visitors to our house, but you can see the dog virtually exploding with the desire to jump up.

Yes OP, the dog needs training, the owner needs more training and the general public need training.

orm - the owner needs training most of all and if something goes wrong its always the owners fault welcome to the world of having dogs
