Green dog poo?

Is this a "take dog to vet" problem, or can we deal with it? Just took him out and his poo was partly green and it was diarrhoea.

He's had diarrhoea for the last day, so we're following the vets advice and are giving him 24 hours without food, then starting him back on chicken and rice, little and often.

Has he had any scope for eating plants, or a lot of herbivore poo? (my dog used to adore sheep droppings, which caused green poo, though not diarrhoea) - if theres a likely cause for it, its less worrying isn't it.

I'd say if he seems OK in himself carry on as you say. Vastly overcooking the rice so it takes up loads of water is an easy way to ensure hydration. A bit of probiotic yogurt could be helpful too, maybe.

He's eaten grass, but that's about it. Not even as much as he normally munches on.

Not on its own. It goes an interesting variety of colours, in the same manner yours does. If the dogs still cheerful, should recover on its own. Give it a week.

Both of my dogs frequently have green poo. They eat burns high oats and I think that is why. I have to feed them that due to anal gland problems.
