Hi - bit of an appeal, posted in Chat too.

My friend's dog managed to escape from her garden yesterday and is still missing.

Please could you keep your eyes out for a long-haired GSD pic and if possible catch her and call Grangemouth Police Station on 01324 634212 to report? She's very friendly and a much loved family pet.

Thanks,

BTB

Pleas upload details onto Dog Lost - a great community for reuniting lost dogs. Post the link once completed on Facebook if you are on it and ask people to share. I take it she has gone through the normal routes of RSPCA/petlog (if microchipped) and the dog wardens?

My friend's dog went missing the other day, out of the garden. She phoned the RSPCA and dog wardens and had no joy.... but at the time of her phoning the RSPCA did have him but had scanned his chip and informed petlog who hadn't got in touch with her and they presumably couldn't be arsed to give a description to the phoneline operators in case anyone rang for him. She was out of her mind for about a day before she was told he was safe.

Hope she finds her way home soon :-)

Thanks for your help - have uploaded to Dog Lost and harrassed local radio station etc. She has contacted dog wardens and police but no joy yet.

Has she been in touch with the SPCA too?

Can you link the Doglost page to here - I have a police friend in Clackmannanshire so not too far from you who will share (she loves her dogs, particularly GSD's)

Not sure, I shall give her a shove Grin

Yay - she has been found thanks to the power of FB (and to think some people hate it!).

Some bloke had picked her up and was apparantly going to take her to the local animal rescue centre next week. In the meantime, he'd bought a lead, bowl and stairgate to keep her out of his kitchen Hmm.

Luckily, a friend of a friend of a friend saw one of the many FB post and remembered seeing a similar dog on a lead out earlier this evening and lo the message was passed back to the owner Grin.

Am so happy now - thanks for your virtual tea and sympathy!

Fantastic news! And a reminder to all owners to keep within the law by having a name-tag on their dog, to microchip and, if the worst happens to make DogLost and Facebook, postering and pestering your friends and to make the dog's loss so well known that he is "too hot to handle" by anyone who might pick him up and not intend to reunite him with his owner.

Agree totally - FB was invaluable.

That's brilliant news, Boris. So pleased for your friend (and the dog!)
