Is it usually for dogs to bark a lot on hot days?

I don't know if this will sound odd - we don't have dogs, but both my neighbours do. On one side the dogs only bark if a stranger comes near/they're really excited, which is sort of what I'd expect as a person who doesn't have dogs.

On the other there is a german shepherd. He seemed to be out in the (being honest, quite small and gravelled) garden all of yesterday and was constantly barking.

After a while I wondered if he was too hot/didn't have any water so had a peek over the fence and there was an open door to a shaded area at the back of the house which I assume had his food and drink in but couldn't see anything.

Do you think he was alright? I don't know if I should mention to neighbours that he didn't seem very happy. He was growling a lot too.

I'm fairly sure they weren't home, as no windows open and no one went outside and talked to the dog.

Don't know if I'm being interferring or not! He has been quiet today, though the weather is much cooler.

My terrier doesn't like hot weather, but he doesn't bark. He tends to collapse in bathroom because it's the coldest room in the house.

I wouldn't leave him outside in hot weather, but if you say the dog had access to shelter and water then I guess that would be okay.

Maybe he is just not used to being left alone?

Yes - it could be, thinking about it, the woman seems to be home most of the time, so I guess he might have just been lonely.

I will stop worrying about it now!
