This is Toby our new rescue dog. He's a lab x stuffy, around a year old. He,s been with us about a month now, and part from chewing, he's a great dog.

awww he's absolutely lovely!

Vallhala · 08/04/2011 07:11

What a little sweetheart!

It makes you wonder how anyone could give them up or abandon them, doesn't it?

soakingfromtheschoolrun · 08/04/2011 08:51

It really does val, he was a stray, then rehomed when they couldn't find his owners, and the new owners brought him back saying 'he's too big for the house' despite him not growing in the month they had him.

In all honesty I don't think they could handle him he can be very hyper, and he came back from them fat! Also the chewing is a pain, but the poor thing is only just over puppyhood with not having had a home to call his own for a long time!

"the new owners brought him back saying 'he's too big for the house' despite him not growing in the month they had him."

B***ds! Angry

The prisoner numbers would rise by one if I got my hands on some of these people...

CalamityKate · 08/04/2011 09:34

Like the Gumtree ad I saw once, for a Rottie. "He grew too big for the house". FFS, do these people think dogs are like goldfish - you know, they only grow as big as the bowl they're in?? Morons.

Toby is bee-yoo-ti-ful Grin

soakingfromtheschoolrun · 08/04/2011 10:04

Thanks calamity. Grin He is a cutie.

I think he is beautiful too!

NunTheWiser · 08/04/2011 10:26

So cute.
Am very Angry with these idiots who think that a dog is something you can just give back, like Primark top that doesn't suit.

soakingfromtheschoolrun · 08/04/2011 11:06

And just cause I can't resist....

oh that last one is lovely. just like my black lab - happy and relaxed. I'm sure he's got a lovely life ahead of him after a slightly ropey start.

DooinMeCleanin · 08/04/2011 11:20

Lovely dog. If he ever gets too big for your house there will space here for him. I'll evict DH to make room for him Wink Grin.

soakingfromtheschoolrun · 08/04/2011 11:28

Haha dooin! Our house isn,t exactly big, but tbh he spends most of his time trying to sit on my knee, or doing some amazing gardening in the garden. Apparently broken plant pots and spread soil is the look for summer 2011!

MotherJack · 08/04/2011 12:02

He is lovely!
My pup used to help with the gardening. When he was young (up to about 2 or 3 I recall), he used to hang back and wait for me to plant things in the garden, and then he would nip outside quick and pull them out, give them a good shake and leave the remains in the middle of the lawn.
We eventually found gardening to be something we could share. If I started a hole he would finish it, whether I wanted him to or not. He was really useful when it came to planting shrubs, but holes for small annuals were about a foot deep Grin

saffronwblue · 08/04/2011 12:15

He is gorgeous - love him relaxing on the sofa.

HildaLessways · 12/04/2011 10:55

Love the piccy of him on the pink sofa! We have a rescue dog Poppy, choc lab/terrier/wirypointer/ex irishdogpound mix. Loves running and digging. Currently asleep under computer desk, farting occasionally....
