My FIL been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer that has spread pretty much anywhere.

They live about an hour and half from us and DH is currently there, coming back at weekend. Not sure what is to happen yet but a week tomorrow is FIL birthday and hoping he makes it. We would all like to go and see him but we also have 5 mnth old black lab who is good as gold but obviously he needs quite a bit of attention (which he nrmally gets) and it probably won't be the best place for him to be.

I was wondering if anyone on here would be able/kind enough to helo us out with him in someway whist we see his Dad. Obviously i wouldn't just leave our puppy anywhere and we have no one we know who can have him. We din't have mney for kennels though tbh wouldn't want him there anyway. He is very loving and very good with a lovely personality.Would prob be for a couple of days or something - just wanted to see if anyone would be available maybe? I just think there will be neough going on in their house without a happy lab adding to it!

please don't any do gooders flame me for asking on here - have enough going on and we love our pup very much - hence appealing to all the fellow experienced caring dog owners here!

Hope no one minds me asking

wish i could help but too far away. good idea to ask on here

you can contact www.papas.org.uk email julie who runs it. they are a voluntary organisation that helps people on a temporary basis as well as long term basis who are experiencing difficulty - financial, ill health, new baby, etc etc - and need help with any pet

there is no charge and all volunteers are vetted. they have volunteers nationwide

julie, who runs it, is lovely and if you email her your phone number and explain its urgent she will get back to you

alternatively, hope someone on here can help

maxybrown · 11/03/2011 23:43

could be worth you emailing julie as a back up? i dont know what the volunteer situation is like up your way and whether they could help but at least you may have someone on standby if needed?

financial sorry tired, should clarify when i said financial above with regard to papas i was thinking of a situation where someone i know had to quickly increase their hours at work due to sudden financial hardship and needed help with someone to walk their dog during the day while they made adjustments to their liefestyle. i didnt mean to give anyone the impression that papas can help financially with their pet

I'm in Cheshire, not sure if that is a bit too far out or you will pass through anyway.

I could possibly help out for a day or two providing the dog is good with other dogs, cats and children.

rockmaiden will PM you thank you
