My Neighbour's Dog...

My first time posting in Pets, as I need some advice please!

My next door neighbour has a dog, about a year old, that she leaves in the house all day as she works full time.

He barks. All day.

He often sounds quite distressed and it's become quite upsetting for me to listen to him. :(

I work from home (hence my being able to hear him barking!) and I could easily take my laptop and work over at her place, so I want to suggest to her that she give me a spare key and I go and sit/play with him for a while every day?

I'm wondering though whether she could take this offer the wrong way, IYSWIM? I can't think how best to put it to her. I don't want to come across as interfering/implying that she is neglectful.

We're not really friends but we're on first name terms and we always chat when we bump into each other.

I adore dogs but can't have one of my own as I'm allergic Angry Her dog is gorgeous and I would love to spend some time with him every day :)

What do you think? TIA

She may not know that it barks all the time it is left.

Why don't you start by saying to her that you hear her dog barking a lot throughout the day and were wondering if she would like you to let it out a couple of times and give it some company.

If there are other neighbours around they might complain about it.

what a lovely idea. maybe word it along the lines of you are at home all day and would love a dog but allergic and as dog is alone as well you could keep each other company?

she shouldnt be leaving dog alone all day but it probably wont help to point that out even though she should have thought of it
