Hi I am thinking of going this weekend, not for all the showy crap but for the dog agility and show ds the working breeds.
Is it worth going? What is worth looking at?
FWIW I dont agree with all the show breeding as I believe they have buggared up all the breeds, im a rescue dog person myself :)

I was like you but decided I couldn't go any more because even if I ignore the showing I am still supporting it by paying my money and being there

gregssausageroll · 09/03/2011 09:53

Yes, it is worth it. And I am not getting into the arguement of showing as it is my hobby and it is what I do and my dogs love it.

Worth a trip. So much to see. If you can go tomorrow or Thursday as the weekend will be bonkers busy.

Ant and Dec are there tomorrow for push the button.

Discover dogs is very interesting where you can speak to reputable breeders.

Flyball is fantastic fun to watch and really loud!

The atmosphere is good but take lots of pennies for shopping.

Not sure of the lineup for the main ring yet but I could come back to the thread on Friday when I am home after tomorrow to give you a breakdown.

What's your preferred day?

Have fun!

i wish i could go tommorrow as it is 'gundog' day, but this year, go every year with DS told him he could choose and he decided 'toy and utility' day so going on sunday instead.

Give all the curly coated retrievers a hug from me.

I have started a "crufts 2011" thread and I will be there tomorrow. Not showing, but watching Gundogs in action, also have a massive list of "things for the dogs" to get.

I am so excited - never been before, got messages to pass on to some people, going to visit lots of charities and buy their things so I dont feel so bad.

I know the weekend will be heaving so tomorrow I will be able to have a good look without getting elbowed out the way.

morethanyoubargainfor · 09/03/2011 10:59

i also have a 'list of things i know dogs will love essentials for the hunds Grin.

Fly ball will be in the main ring.

I should tell you that Crufts covers 5 halls. It is vast. It is sometimes easier to get from hall to hall if you actually leave the main areas and walk through the general areas outwith and re-enter. You will get a pass from security.

Say you want to get from hall 1 to hall 5. The walk would probably take you about an hour if inside the show. Leave the show with your pass and you can do it in 5!
