We rehomed a lab cross springer last year and he loves to work (and long walks) and we like to start agility with him soon as I hope that using mental stimulation might calm him down a little.

But where do I start? Love to built my own agility track but make my own, buy it (where?)or go to agility classes?

Any tips very welcome

i do agility with my jrt. i found classes very helpful to learn the basics. we have built our own agility stuff eg a hula hoop instead of tyre, broom handle instead of poles. however, we do it only for fun and not to compete so exact distance between poles etc doesnt matter for us

ebay sell agility equipment but it still seems expensive to me

my dog loves going to classes. he gets very excited and loves the atmosphere there. its also a great way to make doggie friends and swap ideas

Thanks Chick, would never compete with him I dont think, its just a bit of fun. Its would also be fun and a challenge for the DC who love him dearly and vice versa.

there was a fantastic thread on here a few weeks ago with tips on clicker training that dcs may find fun.

hope you do agility. it is great fun. we did a beginners course, about £5 per lesson. course about 10 lessons i think.

when you are doing it just for fun it is very easy, and great fun, to replicate this at home. even our chickens now have an obstacle course in their run!
