I LOVE my dog

He's so lovely and sweet.

He is 6 months old and supposedly a cross between a JRT and a border terrier.

He 99% goes to the toilet outside, definitely does his best.

He is so gentle if you hand him anything to take with his mouth.

If he "mouths" a bit we say "no bite-ums, only kiss-ums" and then he licks. When we tell him to "go sweep-ums" he goes off and collapses by the radiator. (I don't know what the baby talk is about, but it works!)

He gets very, very dirty and stinky (mucky, rolling around dog, low to the ground) after every walk so we run him a warm "bubble bath" (with gentle dog shampoo) and he stands patiently in the bath up to his shoulders. Then we blow dry him on gentle and he patiently lets us dry him.

He adores my DS2 (11) and sleeps under his bed. He follows him everywhere and lets DS2 carry him around like a handbag.

He sits at the window and barks at birds.

I just love him so much and to think I resisted really strenuously getting a dog since DS1 (20) was 5. I thought it would be too much "bother". Dog has really changed our lives so much for the better.

I am half thinking about getting him a companion but worried about jinxing the mix.

Am I nuts? Will he turn worse as he grows up? Is this just "puppy love"?

He sounds gorgeous! I'm sure he will continue to be so as well. I occasionally think about getting another dog as company for mine but it is twice the cost for dog sitters/walkers which I use quite frequently so have resisted so far Smile

Ahhhh, he sounds lovely!

My lovely dog is snuggled up next to me now. She smells of shit, but I still love her.

I read your other thread and think that you should definitely hold off on getting another dog until yours is 18 months old or more.

Our Border Terrier sounds just like your dog. She is wonderful and always has been. Remember writing that on here when she was a pup and all the doom mongers said just you wait. Well she is nearly 2 and we're all still besotted. Enjoy your dog.
