Looking after a friends dog

Friend has a terrier and is away for two weeks over easter, she asked if we could look after it, I siad I'd do a trial, both DC's loved it, but he can't be let off lead or taken in a car as is sick.

I had her for one day/night and this I found makes me rather house bound eg: can't go on a day out somewhere as always have to be back three times a day for the do. And the barking at 5am!!

So I have said I will have her for a few days but not the whole time, as I want to be abel to take DC's on days out over the hols.

She's now got the hump about it, the dog is only a year old. I told her I did realise about having to be at home all the time because of the car/sickness thing as never had a dog before.

AIBU to think that as a dog owner she should take responsibility for her dog when she is away?

Tell her asap, its her responsibility to sort out care for her dog not yours.

Dogs are hard work, trust me ive been up since 4.00am with a very noisy puppy Wink

If you dont want to do it then dont do it. But let your friend know ASAP so she can make other arrangements.

There are only 3 friends that I would allow to look after my dogs but wouldnt presume that they would do so for a week. A weekend max.

Tell your friend you can get anti-sickness tablets for dogs, tell her to find out if the dog can go to daycare and still with you overnight if that would suit you better, tell your friend it's her dog and she should sort it out

I would love to go on holiday but worry about my dog, I think he would love kennels as he loves other dogs, but he is big and very strong and cannot be let off the lead so I worry about others ability to cope with him
